Migrant Ministry In Myakka

St. Jude Parish provides religious activities for migrant workers who cannot travel to Sarasota or the closest local church. They receive religious education, the Eucharist, penance service, preparation for Baptism and the sacrament of Baptism, all near their homes. Quinceañeras and other religious traditions are celebrated. Most activities are held on Sundays after 4:30 p.m. The young adults work with the youth community and help with the Eucharist.

Respect Life Ministry

This Ministry serves as a liaison with the Diocesan Respect Life Office. They initiates prayer and activist events, including: monthly holy hour on the first Friday of the month, 40 Days for Life fall event; January prayer walk and Florida Legislative Day. We collects funds for women and babies in need. Our Mission is to educate people about abortion through study of Church documents and informing the community of relevant legislation.

Natalia Cava, Coordinator

The centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a 40-day prayer vigil outside an abortion center or referral center – it’s bringing your Christian witness to the place where babies’ lives – and their parents’ souls – are in extreme danger.

And your local 40 Days for Life campaign leader needs your help.

It’s easy to find the nearest campaign. Just go to the 40 Days for Life website:

Jail Ministry

St. Jude Parish serves the jail population in Sarasota County and Port Manatee. Prisoners are visited inside their cells to bring the Word of God and Hope to their lives. The clergy provides spiritual guidance and consolation, listening to their stories, praying with them, bringing them back to the Lord.
